Bamboo hardwood flooring is one of the newest applications of bamboo materials. Bamboo hardwood flooring is made from a ply process. Once the bamboo is culled from the forest, it is dried and cured. To produce a variety of warn brown colors, the bamboo wood is often steam heated to produce what is called 'carmelization', just like the wood used in bamboo cutting boards.

Once the wood is dried it is cut into strips and 'matched' so that like-colored strips are used together. Of course, since the carmelization process is a natural process, variations in color are normal.

Once the strips are matched they are put through a gluing and pressing cycle. From this, the boards can be made into any size planks needed, even 4x8 sheets. Bamboo hardwood flooring can be constructed from boards, just like wood. It can also be made into squares that can be used on top of concrete. It can even be laminated onto other materials and turned into bamboo wall boards and bamboo furniture veneer.

Because of the bamboo materials natural warmth, bamboo floors are easy on the feet, just like bamboo knitting needles are warm to the touch.

Just like other wood, bamboo hardwood flooring can be decoratively set into incredible patterns like parquet. Anything you can do with wood flooring, you can do with bamboo hardwood flooring.
